Exchange students from Cape Town at Portus Groene Hart
Last Monday, a group of students from Bellville High School in Cape Town arrived in Barendrecht for an exchange project. Students from Portus Groene Hart had signed up as host families and welcomed the South African guests with open arms. After the participants had taken part in some fun introductory activities at the school, a pleasant meal was on the agenda. For this, the Groene Hart students had all prepared something delicious.
The entire group then departed for Hockey Club Barendrecht. The purpose of the trip was not only to get acquainted with the Netherlands and the Dutch education system, but also to play several hockey matches in the Netherlands, as hockey is the school sport for the South African guests. After a sporting match and a convivial third half, the guests spent their last night in the Netherlands with their host families, tired but satisfied. On Tuesday morning, a wonderful closing program awaited the participants at Portus Groene Hart.
The South Africans gave both the school and the hockey club great compliments for the excellent organization, warm welcome, and hospitality. The supervisors from Bellville High School therefore hope to be welcomed again at both locations in two years’ time.
