If your child happens to be ill for an extended period, we ask you to contact the mentor. The mentor can, for example, help think about how any potential learning gaps can be prevented. In cases of frequent or prolonged illness-related absence, we report this to the Public Health Service (GGD). We will inform you about this before the report is made. A youth nurse will then work with you and your child to look for ways to reduce absenteeism due to illness. In this way, we work together to safeguard your child's school career and the achievement of their diploma.

Call in sick

If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, we ask you to report this to the school every day via the SOM app. Preferably before 8:15 a.m., but in any case before your child’s first lesson starts. This way, the teacher is informed in time. Is your child still ill the next day? Then fill in the app again. It is not necessary to report when your child is better.

Sick to go home during the school day

If your child needs to go home sick during a school day, he or she should report to the department assistant or, if the assistant is absent, to the reception. The assistant will contact you by phone to ask for your permission. Only if you give permission, your child may go home. The department assistant will record the absence in the system so that teachers know your child is not present in class. For safety reasons, we would appreciate a message once your child has arrived home. If your child is of legal age, we will discuss the sick report directly with him or her.

Do you have an injury?

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that a student experiences physical discomfort and is therefore unable to function optimally during PE lessons. To get a clear picture of your child's injury, we expect a note describing the nature of the injury and the expected duration, preferably accompanied by your signature and phone number.

Kan ik mijn zoon/dochter alleen via de app op mijn telefoon afmelden?

You can report your son/daughter absent via the mobile app or the web version at https://inloggen.somtoday.nl on your computer or phone. For this, you need one of the two most recent versions of your browser. We recommend submitting the notification via the web version.

Waarom kan ik niet inloggen bij Somtoday?

There may be several reasons why you are unable to log in:

• Son/daughter 18 years or older: Somtoday is not available for parents of students who are 18 years or older. If you want to report something for your son/daughter, we kindly ask you to contact us by phone at 0180390393.

• Three times incorrect login details used: Somtoday blocks the account for 10 minutes. After these 10 minutes, you can try logging in again. If you no longer remember the correct password, you can create a new password (see question 4).

• School has disabled the app: in special situations, the school may choose to temporarily block the app.

• Updating: to improve the app and resolve issues, Somtoday is regularly updated.

• None of the above reasons: if the account has not been blocked and there is no update in progress, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Welke schoolnaam gebruik ik bij het inloggen van de app?

When you want to log in, you will be asked for a school name. Here you should enter the following: “Portus - ROTTERDAM”.

Kan ik mijn inloggegevens opnieuw opvragen?

If you have forgotten your password or your password is not working, you can request a new password using the “Forgot password” button. An email will then be sent to the email address linked to the entered username of the parent/guardian. Follow the instructions in the received email.

You can also request your login details again by sending an email to ouderportaal@cvo-portus.nl.

Kan ik mijn wachtwoord voor SOMtoday wijzigen?

If you want to change your password, you need to use the web version of Somtoday. By clicking on your own name (at the top right), you will go to the profile page. There you can change your password.

Kan ik meerdere meldingen maken voor één dag?

You can submit one report per day. If you wish to submit multiple reports for a single day, we ask that you contact us by phone at 0180390393.

Kan ik alle meldingen via de app doorgeven?

You can report your son/daughter absent for the following reasons: illness, general practitioner, dentist, orthodontist, specialist (hospital).

For other reasons of absence, such as an appointment at the municipality or the CBR, we ask you to contact us by phone.

Kan ik meerdere leerlingen op dezelfde school afmelden?

Somtoday offers the opportunity to report absences for multiple students at the same school. In the web version, you will find your name at the top right. If you click on the arrow to the left of your name, the names of your children at our school will appear.

In the app, you will see an initial (main) letter of a name at the top right. Behind the arrow, the first name is visible and, if applicable, multiple children are shown.

Kan ik meerdere leerlingen op verschillende scholen afmelden?

Somtoday also offers the possibility to report absences for students from different schools. You will need to log out and log in again with the credentials for the school of your other son/daughter.
